So just this week our school performed Crazy For You (closing night was last night), and since I didn’t have time to be in it (I didn’t audition), I decided to House Manage for it instead. By the time the third night was over, I knew most of the songs. I wasn’t even in the CAST.submitted by: thedarknightblogger

Our school musical just closed last night, and I didn’t audition because I was in the fall show and I knew I wouldn’t have time to be in it. So for the past few months (since about march), I’ve been really angry because I regret not auditioning and I’m still in PPD from the fall show, which was all the way in November!submitted by: thedarknightblogger

Our local theatre is doing a production of Is He Dead? and I was cast as Marie Leroux, the love interest of the main character Millet. We were walking through the scene where we have our big dramatic kiss for the first time and the director tells us he wants us to try a dip. As he begins to dip me the rug that we’re standing on slips from under us and I fall to the floor. We all had a good laugh over it, but I’ll have a couple of nice bruises for the next few weeks.

I can’t even walk down the hallway in school without hearing “Toffee, Toffee…” from at least a hand full of people.

Yesterday was the first tech  rehearsal for my  community’s productions of Meet Me In St Louis.  I was talking to one of my felllow castmates backstage about sports and we discovered that neither of us are very athletic so we came to a general consensus theatre is a sport.

So I was double cast in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and as such got to play Helena one night out of the three we were performing which was fine by me - I was just so delighted to have been cast.
However a couple of weeks before the performance people started to realize that 1st cast Helena -who whilst she was nice enough- could be a bit of a diva. She knew everyone elses lines and would correct us over every tiny imperfection, she would complain about the directing and try to take over herself and had the amazing ability of making half the cast - including myself- feel second best and worthless.
One day I was feeling down because I’d messed up a massive monologue and she recited it perfectly and a couple of people (director included) pointed out the above behavior which I had failed to take on board until I was told about it) and they told me that I was genuinely nice, always willing to help out (reading in when people were sick, helping with lines etc) and consitantly good and she had actually been taking bits from my portrayal into her own performance, and I was told by at least four separate people they wished they’d given me two performances instead of just one and that she had been warned that should her behavior continue that I would be in the first cast instead of her…
She must have sorted herself out because my performance is over and she still has one to go…No good deed goes unpunished huh? :)Submitted by thatlittlegingerperson:

My school did a gender-switched version of Cyrano de Bergerac. For the first time, I was cast as a lead, the Comte de Guiche ( the main antagonist). It was a great experience, but ever since, my directors have only cast me as villains or bitchy characters.

Ado Annie is my dream role and all, but when the whole cast calls you a slut (even outside of rehearsal) it gets a little annoying.
